Good news everyone , if you are using the new HyppTV box with Android. There is an exploit out there which allows you to run Play Store , install apks and basically transform the boring HyppTV into something new.
This enables roots , allows you to install a lot of programs from the Play Store (and other Google Apps) to the HyppTV box , which takes the HyppTV box to entirely a new level
Things You Need :-
- HyppTV – the new one that runs on Android (such as the one below) – I have the old one and that does not work
- A Pen Drive – which is <4GB (can work with >4GB , but recommended) . Please format it as FAT32/FAT and not as NTFS or other format. This is very important
WARNING : IT WILL VOID THE WARRANTY OF YOUR HYPPTV . ALSO AFTER FLASHING , IF YOUR HYPPTV IS DEAD AND TURNED INTO A PAPER WEIGHT , I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. FLASH IT AT YOUR OWN RISK !
Step 1
Download the ready made gapps-hypptv.zip It contains the basic Google framework and play store which allows you to download apps from Play Store
[ADVANCED USERS] If you are interested to make your own package (bundled with your own apps and apk) you may want to get this. It contains a guide on how to bundle your own applications and such.
Step 2
Rename gapps-hypptv.zip to update.zip . Then Put the update.zip inside Pen Drive – Make sure your Pen Drive is formatted as FAT
Step 3
Plug in the USB Pen drive to HyppTV . Then turn HyppTV STB off To do so go behind the HyppTV STB and turn it off , there is an OFF/ON Toggle. Next , take the remote , press and hold the ON button and turn the HyppTV On.
If you do it correctly you’ll get a screen something like this
Step 4
Using Remote Control , go to Apply Update from External Storage and choose the update.zip
WARNING : PLEASE DO NOT TURN OFF THE HYPPTV STB WHEN IT IS UPGRADING ! THIS IS IMPORTANT
Once it is done , it will reboot
Step 5
Go to Applications and Voila , you should see Play Store and such. Enjoy !

– Not all applications may work. Some may crash , some may not work. It is trial and error
What If my HyppTV died/gave problems?
Well , you may try to follow Steps 1 to 3 again , this time selecting Factory Reset option. !

@Jude, TM warranty saved me. They said that they never encountered these kind of problem before. They just have no idea about it. TM technicians’ lack of knowledge about this new STB made me to get new STB as replacement. They gave me the old model but I demanded them to get for me the new huawei ec6106v5 and I got it at last. FYI, they never knew that it was hard bricked even after they contacted their superior officers and I just told them that it just malfunctioned.
Well it’s just a lesson that I learned. FYI, I rooted it successfully. But some modifications in system made it to have kernel panic. It only can be recovered if we get stock firmware.
We can do more with it and can unleash it’s full potential.
I recommend @Akif Rabbani or @Pradeesh Parameswaran to open a thread in xda-developers.com bcs I can’t communicate with Akif Rabbani bcs I don’t use Twitter. He currently brought us the direct link of stock firmware of STB via his Twitter page. But I cannot access it. Still waiting for any mirror.

TO install some aps..you may install ES-explorer via google play.
After install,plug in your pen drive to hyptv box. (ec6108v8)
USe Es Exploere to explore local sd0 or sd1 for your favourite apps.INSTALL YOUR FAVOURITE apps.
clik install..set your privacy to allow install unknown apps before installing (at the setting bar below window in ES-EXPLORER)
But YOutube can’t install . BOx CHip/system incompetible.
THe BOx won’t allow you to download but this trick will help.
In order to install a working youtube app.
1. Search for “Youtube for android TV box”.
2. Do not download the latest app.
3. Download version 1.2.7 only.
4. install and run the app.
5. you will have a working Youtube app in your HyppTV box.
6. Just say thank you (in your heart) if it is working.
