Philips AquaTouch AT750 Review Part Four: 100% Aqua

This is going to be my next epic. Just kidding , if you haven’t read my Philips Aqua Touch Review , please do so now. Read from part 1 so that you’ll understand the whole journey. This week , we take a look at how Philips AquaTouch even improvises lives of celebrity. The celebrity is no other than  Kuah Jenhan. Now some of you may not know who is he , well basically he is a part of MACC , no not Malaysian Anti Corruption Agency – it is  Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedian.

Kuah Jenhan is Russell Peters of Malaysia , basically you can do a YouTube search and watch his comedies. Anyhow , he is also an ambassador for Philips AquaTouch in Malaysia. Here take a look on how Kuah Jenhan uses his Philips AquaTouch

So yeah , there you have it even celebrities love the AquaTouch :P I am just posting this to give you another reason to convince yourself or your loved ones to get an AquaTouch

If that is not convincing  enough , continue to read on

Is it really “AquaTouch” ?  As in 100% Waterproof

This is where I wanted to find out if it is indeed 100% water proof. I know that some companies tend to lie to their customers about their product being able to do it all and that comes with extra stuff. Philips did tell me that they have personally tested with up to depth of 4 meters. So I did a little test of my own which you can view it to see if it is indeed water-proof , you can see the video for yourself

I have not edited in any way , it is straight from my iPhone 4 itself

I have also not tested with soap water , oil , petrol , some chemical liquids and I am assume that it will be all be working. Oh keep in mind , let the AquaTouch be completed dried before plugging in into the charger , just to be on a safer side.

What’s next ?

I would be concluding. I have received comments from my readers (both positive and negatives alike). I’ll sum it all up and say if it is indeed worth the money. Trust me you do not want to miss about that

You could also vote for me here , well by voting you would make yourself feel better and you give me a chance to get a complete make-over

Alternatively if you want AquaTouch for free , you could participate in #Philips50Shaves competition , just head over here to find out more (Be sure to like their Facebook Page)

Samsung ML-2160 Review Part 3

This is the last part of my SAMSUNG ML-2160. You should read the previous two segments , which are located here and here before reading this. In this segment , I’ll be wrapping up everything and giving you my final conclusion of the printer

Printing Speed

I’ll let the video be the judge. In this case I decided to print a lecture note which is in powerpoint file format (PPT) and decided to print 6 slides a page with SAMSUNG Easy Eco functionality. I’ve posted a video which I would like you to be judge

It prints relatively fast as you could see in the video (faster compared to Inkjet printers which are priced the same) . The printing quality is not bad at all (bear in mind I turned on eco-saving features so probably it has toned down on sharpness to save toner’s ink)

Final Thoughts

Lastly , here are my thoughts. If you are a student who prints their lecture notes for revision and stuff and wants an affordable printer , this is the printer that you are looking for. The additional things that the printer includes is pretty much one of its kind , that you can’t find in any other printer of this price range. However if you are kind of person who would like to print things in colour or are just looking for a multi-function printer , sorry to say that this printer is for you at all. You are better off with an Inkjet printer. I’ve summed it up all in a simple pros and cons point form

Pros

  1. Affordable Price & Compact
  2. Broad Compatibly  (works with Windows and Mac)
  3. Toner which lasts pretty long
  4. Awesome Bundled Software (suc as Eco Drive)

Cons

  1. Noise of the Printer (It can get a bit loud at times)
  2. No Automatic Double-Sided Printing Capabilities
  3. No Stop Hardware Button if you want to abort Printing

Again this printer is great. Some of the cons or drawbacks of the printer are outweighed by the benefit. For instance there the hardware physical stop button is replaced by SAMSUNG Eco Drive so you could review your pages before printing , but however I still prefer a hardware stop button. That’s just being me. Overall , this is the first time I am using a monochrome laser printer  (and reviewing a printer) and it seems to be perfect for my everyday use. Not only its affordable as I have pointed out early but it is also compact. SAMSUNG does deserve some praises in this area. So kudos SAMSUNG , hope that you guys could release a laser printer that allows to print colour pages in this similar price range

Overall Rating : 4/5

Acknowledgements

I would like to say that its not a sponsored post by Samsung but more towards the printer  itself. The review can be negative or positive as they have spent out that each reviewers have their freedom of expression to express their thoughts. I would also like to thank SAMSUNG for providing me with the review unit

Samsung ML-2160 Review Part 1

Printers are essential for two things – printing reports and printing notes. It becomes an essential tool for every student who is currently in college or university. It is because more and more of our lecture material , tutorial questions are being posted online. Not to mention that printing them in your college/university could be a hassle – especially when everyone is using the library printer for instance – you will see people printing their assignments at the 11th hour or simply printing the entire stack of lecture notes , tutorial questions for the semester and not to mention that at times , the printer could broke down and most importantly – printing in university could be expensive

Now you may say that if there is only a way I could get the awesomeness of university printer for my personal use and which does not cost a bomb. Thankfully your prayers have been answered – SAMSUNG ML-2160 series printer. A printer that is easy on the wallet and the environment too – and not to mention that it’s a laser printer (similar to the ones used in your university for printing documents)

Cutting down data usage with Onavo

Recently we have grown a bond with our mobile phone. Constantly uploading photos from our phones , checking Twitter , replying to facebook comment. It has become a part of our life. Unfourtantely , these tiny devices do consume a lot of data if you have a lot of Internet-enabled applications. Recently applications such as WhatsApp are becoming popular among smartphone users with data plan as they find it is relatively cheaper. However they do not realize (or realized it too late) that it is consuming a lot of data.

There are providers (carriers) which offers Unlimited data plan and others which do offer limited data plan. In Malaysia for instance , we have three main providers which do offer data plans. Each with its own various pros and cons. For instance DiGi gives you “unlimited” data in a sense that once you have reached your limit – you can still get to enjoy your Internet without paying extra , however at a slower speed. Others like Maxis , would simply charge you per kilobyte once you’ve reached your allocated monthly quota.

What is the solution for these hard core users ? Cut down their usage on smartphone and move back to dumbphone. This is where Onavo kicks in (no its not Maria Ozawa , I know it sounds something like that famous Japanese porn star actress , but certainly its not) . Its an application for iPhone users (sorry Android users !) that allows data to be compressed , thus reducing mobile data usage by 80% (In other words if your data plan is 1GB , that means you could enjoy a whopping 2-3GB more out of your 1GB data plan) . Best of all it is currently , FREE

My New Genuis MediaCruiser 810

This is a mini-review of my newly bought keyboard , which happens to be a Genuis Media Cruiser 810

Well here is the story. At first I was using the Microsoft Wireless Optical 700 , yeah it was the cheapest Wireless Keyboard and Mouse set that I could get. It was only for RM 99 , thats cheap man for a wireless keyboard and mouse.  Anyhow i faced a problem , it was too hard to control using a wireless keyboard and mouse without a proper table. How would you expect to control or click something with mouse by using a normal mouse on a couch. Its not comfortable at all , and on top of that the range became a limiting factor , the Optical Keyboard 700 has a very minimal range and i wasn’t able to lean back on the couch and control it. Nevertheles , my search continued after I stumbled across this , Microsoft Media Center keyboard. Its meant for Media center , it has these cool media center keys such as record , play , puase , rewind , etc. Sounds nice , but one thing for sure is that it has a cool bulit-in pointer (aka a joystick) which makes it easier for me to navigate through menus and other things. I mean how sily would you look if you are using a normal mouse and a keyboard just like I before. Not to say its sily but its a bit annoying , especially when you’re trying to use the mouse to navigate through menus and other things !

The Media Cruiser

The Media Cruiser- It has a cool finishing and I love it

One nice thing I like about it is that it uses RF (Radio Frequency) and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to configure this thing. It just works automagically , just plug it and play. It works out of the box with Windows Vista and I believe it does the same thing too for Windows XP Media Center Edition. As for the media center function it just works , hit the start Button and you have Windows Media Center. You can navigate through it , such as scrolling down through menus , watching live TV (ASTRO in this case) , watching recorded videos , watching downlaoded videos and even Internet TV as well. Overall its pretty good , I mean what more can you expect from this keyboard. The mouse isn’t prefect though its just like a joystick but its handy to navigate through menu and for use it to surf the Internet ! Here is another shot below

The price is RM 279. Yes its a bit pricey for a keyboard , what do you expect , its very hard to finish here in Malaysia and there aren’t many vendors that carry these sort of keyboard and HTPC is usually stereotyped by Malaysians as for the wealthy ones only !

Trendy keyboard matches my table !
