P1 WiMax Wiggy Review (Part 1)

This time its not their latest review which is on their Wiggy – the portable wimax .P1 guys are being nice with the bloggers as in giving bloggers and forumers alike to test out their device and share our thoughts. In this part , we will be taking a look at how the device looks like and how it feels (as in its looks and “aesthetic values” )

First things first , Wiggy (a cool name indeed)  as you see below (the size).

"Look ma , it fits in my hand" - That is how I would describe it - Put it in the pocket and connect to any PC and voila you have your own personal Internet Service ! *provided if you're within P1's coverage area*

For the sake of comparing with something. I’ve taken another photo which compares the size of the old modem with the new one. I’ll leave the maths to you to calculate which one is easier to carry around !

Anyway , the modem itself works automagically with Windows XP/Vista/7 , whereby it installs the drivers and sets it up automatically. All you have to do is hit the connect button. Now that is what I call it simple. I was bit disapointed when there were no drivers for Linux and Mac (For your information I am a Mac user myself !) , but however I was told by the great staffs of P1 that drivers would be out for Mac/Linux somewhere in Q2/Q3 2009. So Mac users , don’t worry as we still do have a chance to use this device once the drivers are out !

Apart from that I believe that plug-n-play-n-forget makes it easier for grandma and grandpa to surf the Internet and not to mention an average Malaysian to use the Internet. In the next part , Before I end my first part of the review , in the next part. Let us take a look at how it performs on real-life senarios , such as speed-tests and stuff like that. The first part of the review (just like my old P1 WiMax Review) basically talks about the device itself ! The next part , we will be taking a look at the setup part , speed-tests and its performance. So do stay tuned for it !

  1. is it possible to connect it to a wireless router and share the connection (USB) ???? any router in market is able to do??? there is router with PCMCIA port to share the 3g connection…

  2. No such thing with the wiggy,.. its not as good as what you think it is.. Ironically, its says to be the broadband on the go.. its not certainly not like tht.. its broad band on locations, on trains it very unstable, in the car,, connections lost even within the range..

    But i when i compare to maxis broadband, it way better, even on the train,bus,car, except aeroplane la.. hahahah..

    P1 sucks..

  3. Wimax Wiggy sucks. Live at 12th floor, Greenpark Condo, Jalan Awan Pintal. Bad connection. At most only 20% signal. Take 30mins to connect. Always disconnected and not stable. Sign up the Wimax Wiggy on prepaid. After paid everything, now super duper lousy. Really REGRET. Must “potong” Wimax now.

  4. I want to say that P1 Wimax Is A Shit Who Does Not Care About It’s Customers!
    I am very pissed off with P1.

    In August I signed up for P1 Wimax. I test runned it and within the week I found that it is not suitable for my purpose. I signed the cancellation document and told them to write the cheque to my wife or company because I do not have a bank account to deposit the refund cheque.

    Despite the cancellation procedure, I still get billed. I wrote back after a few billings to tell them off them up regarding their inefficiency.

    When no refund was forthcoming after the 45days was up and long after 90 days, I called customer service. Apparently there is no record of my cancellation. They probably lost my documents. They asked that I go to their office to settle this matter! (So I am being penalized for their crappy work)

    I told them I want their phone number to talk to the accounts department. The call centre refused to give me the number! They want me to go there! Not satisfied, I called my Vendor in Subang Jaya and apparently I was right in that they misplaced the document.

    Just few days ago, I got my cheque. Even then, they did not follow instructions despite me given WRITTEN instructions to that effect. It had my name on it and I already told them to put to my company’s or wife’s name.

    Of course that got me pretty mad. I would have been neutral but because they keep fucking up and delayed my refund, I got REALLY MAD.

    To me this is one FUCKED UP COMPANY who DO NOT CARE about CUSTOMER’S RELATIONS. The blocked us from reaching administration and customer service so that the directors can sit on their cushy chairs and let the customers be. I am totally pissed off!

Can’t you just ctrl urself little bit here.. no need to condemn this P1 service. i already use this p1 service more than 8 month now. i’m using very basic plan(RM49). tapi i takde masalah ape2 pun setakat nie.. coverage okay..download speed maintain je.. takde pulak tiba2 terputus ke.. jangan marah2.. kalau u marah macam ni, orang bukan benci dengan p1, tp benci dekat orang yg suka marah2 macam u ni.. ctrl ur language please..

After many times of repeatedly telling them; then they lose your records; then they tell you go see them pay parking, petrol and use up your time when it is their fault for losing your records; then they refuse to connect you to accounts dept and won’t give you reason why (later found out they are actually outsourced to don’t know who or where); and they give you warning and reminders to pay up even though you have cancelled months ago…..you see whether you marah or not?

    Only after a good shouting match then only knock some sense into them. Some people or companies need to be told like that one la.

    Got 1 direct selling company even said they give 100% money back guarantee but after that try to worm their way out of their guarantee because their product did not work on me. Even when directors issued order to refund, staff still want to “bargain” with me for partial refund. Have to shout at him, then only he really do the refund. Otherwise, I would have ended up with little or no refund.

    Some people can talk like gentlemen; some people must be tough with them and give them a hard time, then only they do something.
